L.A. Section 8 - Privacy Policy

LASection8.com ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website https://www.lasection8.com (the "Site"), and your rights with respect to that information. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Site.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of personal information:

Information You Provide Directly: Name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and any other information you submit through our contact forms, rental applications, or maintenance request forms.

Automatically Collected Information: When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device and usage, including IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked, and other diagnostic data.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Site and to measure which of our ads lead to calls and inquiries. See Section 5 (Cookies and Tracking Technologies) for more detail.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To respond to your inquiries and provide requested services; to process rental applications and maintenance requests; to communicate with you about properties, availability, and services; to send administrative information, including updates to our terms and policies; to improve our Site, services, and user experience; to analyze usage trends and monitor the effectiveness of our marketing; to comply with legal obligations; to detect, prevent, and address fraud, security breaches, and other harmful activity; and to send promotional communications where you have consented or where permitted by applicable law.

3. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers: We disclose information to service providers that help us operate, for the purposes in this Privacy Policy: website hosting, website development and maintenance, email delivery, our phone service, call tracking, and form tracking (CallRail), and spam protection on our forms (Google reCAPTCHA). They may use it only to provide their services to us.

Advertising Partner: Google (Google Ads) collects the information described in Section 5 through advertising cookies on our Site, after you agree to them, so we can measure which of our ads lead to calls and inquiries. California law may treat this as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out at any time, as described in Section 4.

Call and Form Tracking: Our call tracking provider, CallRail, provides the phone numbers shown on our Site and processes call information on our behalf to tell us which ad or page a call came from, and reports calls from our ads to Google Ads so we can measure our advertising. When you send one of our contact forms after agreeing to advertising cookies, CallRail also receives a copy of what you entered, on our behalf, to tell us which ad or page your message came from; it does not report form submissions to Google Ads. Its website script runs on our Site only after you agree to advertising cookies, and not after you opt out. See Section 5.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Protection of Rights: We may disclose information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, violations of our Terms of Use, or situations involving potential threats to safety.

4. Your California Privacy Rights

This section applies to California residents and supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy. It is provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act.

Notice at Collection

We collect, and in the preceding 12 months we have collected, the categories of personal information below through our Site and through our calls, texts, and emails with you, from the sources and for the purposes listed. In the same period, we disclosed personal information for business purposes as described below, and our advertising partner, Google, collected identifiers, internet or other electronic network activity information, and geolocation data (approximate) through advertising cookies on our Site, which California law may treat as a "sale" or "sharing." The third party we allow to collect personal information through our Site, for advertising, is Google. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, use Your Privacy Choices, which is also at the bottom of every page. Google's advertising tag and CallRail's website script do not run on our Site until you agree to advertising cookies, as described in Section 5.

Identifiers. Your name, phone number, email address, and mailing address when you contact us or send a form; your IP address; cookie and device identifiers; and advertising click identifiers.

Sources: you, your browser or device, and, for phone calls and texts, caller ID information from the telephone network.
Purposes: to respond to your inquiry and help you rent a home, to handle maintenance requests, to communicate with you, to measure and improve our Site and advertising, and to protect our Site from spam and fraud.
Sold or shared: online identifiers (your IP address, cookie identifiers, and ad click identifiers) are collected by our advertising partner, Google, through advertising cookies on our Site to measure our ads, after you agree to them and until you opt out. California law may treat this as a sale or sharing. We do not send your name, email address, or phone number to Google from our Site.

Personal information described in California Civil Code section 1798.80(e). Your name, address, and telephone number.

Sources: you and, for phone calls and texts, caller ID information from the telephone network.
Purposes: to respond to your inquiry, to handle maintenance requests, and to communicate with you.
Sold or shared: no.

Internet or other electronic network activity information. Pages you visit on our Site, the website that referred you, whether you tapped our phone number or sent an inquiry, the ad you clicked, if any, and your browser and device type.

Sources: your browser or device.
Purposes: to measure and improve our Site and advertising, and to protect our Site from spam and fraud.
Sold or shared: collected by our advertising partner, Google, through advertising cookies on our Site to measure our ads, after you agree to them and until you opt out. California law may treat this as a sale or sharing.

Geolocation data (approximate only). A general location derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation.

Sources: your browser or device.
Purposes: to measure and improve our advertising.
Sold or shared: collected by our advertising partner, Google, with the information above, in the same way, after you agree to advertising cookies and until you opt out. California law may treat this as a sale or sharing.

Commercial information. The homes you ask about.

Sources: you.
Purposes: to respond to your inquiry and help you rent a home.
Sold or shared: no.

Audio, electronic, visual, thermal, olfactory, or similar information. Recordings of calls to our call-tracking phone numbers, and the text messages you send to those numbers.

Sources: your calls and texts with us.
Purposes: to keep a record of your inquiry and to maintain the quality of our service.
Sold or shared: no.

We do not ask for sensitive personal information through our Site.

Advertising measurement. Google Ads receives reports about calls and inquiries that came from our ads, to measure and improve the performance of our advertising, including the automated bidding Google Ads uses for our ads. If you call us after arriving from one of our ads, our call-tracking provider (CallRail) may report the call to Google Ads together with the ad click identifier from your visit, without your name or phone number. If you call us from the call button in one of our ads, Google connects the call through a Google forwarding number and receives your phone number and the time and length of the call; the call then reaches us through a CallRail call-tracking number and may be recorded, with a notice at the start of the call. Before you agree to advertising cookies, after you opt out, and while your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, our Site does not load Google's advertising tag or CallRail's website script, so neither of them receives information about your visit to our Site, and CallRail does not receive a copy of the forms you send. Calls you make to the phone numbers shown on our Site still go through CallRail, as described in Section 5. We do not use any of this information to show you ads on other websites.

Retention. We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, including to respond to your inquiry, to handle any rental or maintenance matter that follows, and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations. Google Ads advertising cookies expire up to 90 days after they are set, and our call-tracking provider's cookies up to six months after your last visit; copies these tools keep in your browser's local storage remain until you clear your browser data or opt out. Opting out on our Site removes them. Your privacy choice itself is kept in a cookie for one year after your last visit.

Sale, sharing, and other disclosures of personal information

We do not sell personal information for money. Our advertising partner, Google, collects online identifiers and browsing activity through advertising cookies on our Site, after you agree to them, so that we can measure which of our ads lead to calls and inquiries. We do not use this information to show you ads on other websites, but because Google collects it as a third party, California law may treat this as a "sale" or "sharing." You can opt out at any time, as described below. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

In the preceding 12 months, we disclosed these categories of personal information for business purposes: identifiers; personal information described in Civil Code section 1798.80(e); internet or other electronic network activity information; geolocation data (approximate); commercial information; and audio, electronic, visual, thermal, olfactory, or similar information (call recordings and text messages). We disclosed them to the categories of service providers listed in Section 3. As described under "Advertising measurement," we also disclosed identifiers (ad click identifiers) to Google Ads with reports of calls that came from our ads. Until October 2026, our Site also sent Google Ads a limited measurement signal after an opt-out, without advertising cookies, which disclosed identifiers (your IP address) and internet or other electronic network activity information (the page address). You can learn how Google uses information from websites that use its services on Google's page about its partners' sites (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Know what personal information we have collected about you, including the categories of personal information, the categories of sources, our business or commercial purposes for collecting, selling, or sharing it, the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it, the categories of personal information sold or shared, if any, and the categories of third parties to whom they were sold or shared, the categories of personal information we disclosed for a business purpose and the categories of persons we disclosed them to, and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to exceptions allowed by law.
Correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information. We use and disclose sensitive personal information only for purposes that California law permits without offering this right, so no further action is needed.
Not be retaliated against for exercising any of these rights, including if you are a job applicant, employee, or independent contractor.

These rights are subject to exceptions under California law. For example, we may keep information we need to complete a rental or maintenance matter, to protect against fraud and security incidents, to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, or to exercise or defend legal claims. We are not required to provide the information in response to more than two requests to know from the same person in a 12-month period, to re-identify or link information that we do not keep in a form that identifies you, or to correct information that we determine is more likely than not accurate, and we may charge a reasonable fee for, or refuse, requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive.

How to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information

Click Your Privacy Choices, here or at the bottom of any page of our Site. Then either choose Reject all, or set Advertising to Not allowed and choose Save my choices. On your first visit you can also choose Reject in the notice at the bottom of the page. Your choice applies to the browser and device you are using and is saved there for one year after your last visit. If you clear your cookies or use a different browser or device, set it again there.

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. A GPC signal applies to the browser or device that sends it. To send the GPC signal, use a browser or browser extension that supports it and turn the setting on. When an opt-out made in this browser, or a GPC signal, is in effect, the bottom of each page shows "Opt-Out Request Honored." If your browser sends GPC and you then choose to allow advertising on our Site, we honor that choice for our Site only. While your browser sends GPC, the cookie notice does not ask, and scrolling or clicking on the page never counts as agreeing.

These choices apply to our Site. You, or an authorized agent with your signed permission, can also ask us to opt you out by calling us as described below.

You can also opt out of Google's use of cookies for personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com). This choice is separate from Your Privacy Choices on our Site.

Our Site does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no common standard for them. We do honor the Global Privacy Control signal, as described above.

How to make a request to know, delete, or correct

Call our privacy line, toll-free, at (888) 781-5388 and tell the person who answers that you are making a California privacy request.

To protect your information, we verify each request to know, delete, or correct by matching information you give us, such as your name and the phone number or email address you used to contact us, with the information we have. We use that information only to verify your request. If we cannot verify your request, we may deny it. For a request for the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, we may also ask you to sign a declaration under penalty of perjury.

You can use an authorized agent to make a request for you. For a request to know, delete, or correct, we may ask the agent for your signed permission and ask you to verify your identity with us directly, unless the agent has a valid power of attorney.

We confirm receipt of, and respond to, requests within the time periods California law requires.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use these cookies and similar technologies on our Site:

Strictly Necessary: Required for the Site to work, including security, spam protection on our forms, keeping administrators signed in, and remembering your privacy choice. These cannot be turned off.

How you agree to advertising cookies: On your first visit, a notice at the bottom of the page asks. You agree by choosing Accept there, or by allowing Advertising in Your Privacy Choices. In the US, scrolling, clicking on the page, or moving to another page while the notice is shown also counts as agreeing; clicking the notice itself, Your Privacy Choices, or a link to this Privacy Policy does not, and neither does anything you do on this Privacy Policy page. Until you agree, our Site does not load the Google Ads tag or CallRail's website script.

Advertising (Google Ads): After you agree, the Google Ads tag runs on our Site so we can tell which of our ads lead to phone calls and inquiries. It uses advertising cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, whether you tapped our phone number or sent an inquiry, and, if you came from one of our ads, the ad you clicked. If you arrive from one of our ads before agreeing, your browser keeps the ad's click identifier for that browser tab only, for up to 30 minutes, so the ad can be credited if you agree on a later page; it is not sent to anyone before you agree, and it is deleted when you close the tab or opt out. After you agree, your browser also keeps a note that you came from one of our ads, so an inquiry you send us within 30 days is marked as coming from our advertising. We do not use this information to show you ads on other websites. If you opt out, our Site stops loading the tag, deletes its cookies and your browser's note, and Google receives no further information from your visits to our Site.

Phone calls: The phone numbers shown on our Site, including our privacy line, are call-tracking numbers from our call tracking provider, CallRail. They ring our office and tell us that a call came from our Site. When you call one, CallRail receives your phone number and the time and length of the call. Calls to our call-tracking numbers may be recorded, except calls to our privacy line, which CallRail does not record; you will hear a notice at the start of any recorded call. This happens whether or not you have opted out on our Site, because it is how our phone service works; an opt-out on our Site stops CallRail's website script, as described next. CallRail's Privacy Policy (https://www.callrail.com/privacy) applies.

Advertising (call and form tracking): After you agree, and until you opt out, our call tracking provider, CallRail, runs a script on our Site that uses cookies to note how you arrived, for example from one of our ads. If you arrive from one of our ads, the script shows you a different call-tracking number that also rings our office, so we can tell that your call came from the ad. When you call that number, CallRail also receives the pages of our Site you visited before calling and the ad you came from, and it reports calls from our ads to Google Ads so we can measure our advertising. When you send one of our contact forms, including the form for asking about a home, the script also sends CallRail a copy of what you entered (such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and message, and the home you asked about), so we can tell which ad or page led to your message; CallRail does not report form submissions to Google Ads. If you opt out, our Site no longer loads CallRail's website script, so CallRail does not receive copies of the forms you send or connect your calls to your visit or to an ad click; calls to the numbers shown on our Site still go through CallRail as described under "Phone calls."

Google reCAPTCHA: Our contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, to check that a person and not an automated program is sending the form. Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Terms of Service (https://policies.google.com/terms) apply.

Your Choices: Advertising runs only after you agree, as described above. You can turn it off at any time through Your Privacy Choices at the bottom of any page, as described in Section 4. Strictly necessary cookies and reCAPTCHA stay on. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the Site works.

6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information in the browser that sends it, so Advertising is turned off there and the cookie notice does not ask. Our Site does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals, which have no agreed standard.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When information is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it.

8. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

9. Third-Party Links

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Site is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

11. Accessibility

We are committed to ensuring this Privacy Policy is accessible to individuals with disabilities. If you require this policy in an alternative format, please contact us using the information below.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
